I was afraid that I would fail in making my own windmill because I have trouble with most construction projects, but I enjoy a challenge. I once made a birdhouse that was always deserted :)

Here are a few tips for you to study that will help you to design your windmill. First of all, if you are in an area that has low wind speeds, the tower for your windmill with have to be longer than the average one.

Another tip is that ensure that the method that you are using to store the electricity is the best solution, especially if you which to store the power in case there is a power outage in your area.

If you are patient with yourself, you will be able make your own electric windmills that will enable to you save lots on your power bill. The cost for making your own windmill is a lot lower than if you were to buy one outright.  Plus you will be able to customize it based on where you are located and for the amount of power that you will need to generate.

Residential Windmills

January 11th, 2010

If you are thinking about using windmill electricity to partially or the totally power your home, I wanted to let you know that it is possible to build your own windmill. How do I know? I have done it and I am not known as the most talented handyman going.

There are different parts that you will need to assembly to make your home windmill. For instance, you will need to have the rotor blades. These blades are what traps the wind and causes the windmill to spin which will force the alternator to create the electricity for your personal use for free.

The shaft is the part that is connected to the rotor for the residential windmill. The shaft spins around since the blades are turning the rotor. In other words, all of the new energy created goes to the shaft from the blades and rotor.

The generator for the windmill that you will be making at home is crucial. Without it, no electricity can be produced. A windmill generator contains magnets and of course, a conductor. What happens is that the shaft that is connected to the wires sends a voltage to wiring that has been tightly coiled.

How does Windmill Electricity Work?

January 11th, 2010

I wanted to explain to you how windmill electricity is able to work. A windmill produces power in the form of electricity  by using motion. The wind pushes the blades of the windmill and it spins it.

There is an alternator inside the windmill apparatus that cause a build up of friction that is switched into a current that is electrical. The size of the windmill dictates how much energy is produced.

I know what you are thinking. You are feeling as if you will have to build a huge windmill that will be large than your house in order to have enough electricity produced for your home. I felt the same way.

In actuality a residential windmill can be very small and you will be able to assembly one yourself easily. You just have to follow the instructions to a windmill building plan and to have some patience.
